Humanities Texas advances heritage, culture, and education. As the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, we conduct and support public programs in history, literature, philosophy, and the other humanities disciplines. These programs strengthen Texas communities by cultivating the knowledge and judgment that representative democracy demands of its citizens.
The Humanities Texas exhibitions program circulates traveling exhibitions on a variety of topics ranging from the Woman Suffrage Movement in Texas and U.S. Latinos of World War II to the photography of Russell Lee and the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
Our goal is to provide high-quality, affordable resources to cultural and educational institutions throughout Texas and the nation.
Humanities Texas is located at the Byrne-Reed House on the southwest corner of 15th and Rio Grande Streets.
